OBJET AIMÉE [loved object] : A collection of romantic gestures
Objet Aimée began in 2018 as an independent ceramic endeavor by Aimee McLaughlin producing functional objects and working amongst a community of ceramicists in Brooklyn, NY. Since then it has evolved into a larger collection of small batch ceramics inspired by ancient forms and classic motifs.
Aimee graduated from The University of Georgia in 2011 with a B.F.A. in Textile Design. She learned ceramics by taking classes during her undergraduate studies and furthered her education in New York through classes at various studios in Brooklyn, reading books, watching online tutorials, and mostly as a Studio Technician at Gasworks NYC. Currently based in Portland, ME, Aimee continues to study and grow in her pursuit of Ceramics education.
Producing ceramics for both functional and decorative use, all pieces are thrown on a wheel or hand built, then decorated, glazed and fired in an electric, gas or wood kiln. Variations in size and appearance are celebrated as part of the inherent beauty of handmade objets.
